Chaotic scenes unfold at a second-hand designer clothes shop in the Philippines as buyers tried to snag the best deals.

Footage shows shoppers desperately grabbing as many items as they could following a fire sale with items as low as 25 PHP (0.48 USD) each in Davao Oriental province on February 22.

Many of the items were top brands that had been worn and then imported from China, South Korea, and some European countries such as Italy.

Shoppers arrive at the importer's shop early in the morning to snare the new arrivals. Sometimes the scenes become violent as bargain-hunters compete for the limited number of items.

Shopper Maricel Demafeliz said: 'It was a tiring job but you would not get decent items if you're slow. You really have to be competitive or you'll take home the leftovers.'

Despite its popularity, importing secondhand goods for commercial purposes is illegal in the Philippines with the law citing health concerns as the issue.

If proven guilty, an importer could face up to five years of imprisonment and a fine of up to 20,000 PHP (391 USD).
