A cargo vessel caught on fire while it was docked at a port in the Philippines.

The MV Cooperative was undergoing pre-departure inspection in Bulan Port in Sorsogon province on March 2 when a fire erupted onboard.

Video shows a plume of thick, black smoke rising from the vessel, which was on its way to Ticao Island in Masbate province at the time.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Bulan substation said eight crew members were on the vessel when the incident happened. No fatalities were reported as the fire was immediately put out, it added.

A coast guard spokesperson said in a statement: 'Immediately, the PCG contacted the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Bulan and cordoned the area to control the fire. When the BFP personnel arrived, the PCG assisted in combatting the fire with an undetermined cause as of press time.'

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the fire.
