Six young men have been arrested following the death of a 53-year-old man who was found fatally injured outside an Asda supermarket.

Emergency services were called after the victim was discovered near the superstore on Jinnah Road, in Redditch, Worcs., at 7.20pm on Tuesday (8/3).

Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics who attended the scene, the man, from Redditch, was pronounced dead.

West Mercia Police said six young men were arrested in connection with the incident following a search of the nearby area and remain in custody today (Wed).

A force spokesperson said: "Officers are currently supporting the man’s family at this extremely difficult time.

"Officers remain at the scene and enquiries are ongoing."

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "We were called to an incident on Jinnah Road at 7.19pm last night.

"Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and two Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Cars attended the scene.

"On arrival we discovered a male patient who was in a critical condition.

"Ambulance staff administered advanced life support but sadly, despite their best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
