This is the adorable moment a baby elephant in Kruger National Park, South Africa decides to get bold and try to blast away these buffalo bulls with his mighty trumpeted trunk but instead just makes a cute noise that the unbothered bovines ignore on Wednesday (March 9).

During a safari in the Kruger National Park, we had the opportunity to witness how a rather cheeky male baby elephant decided he was going to show three large buffalo bulls that he was in charge. This baby elephant clearly had no idea who he was dealing with. The three buffalo bulls, with just one of them weighing more than three times the baby elephant, of course remained calm for obvious reasons. The baby elephant decided it was a good time to test how effective his threat displays were, which consisted of mock charging, swinging his trunk and repeated cute little trumpeting noises. This was so funny to watch, with the buffalo bulls not even looking at the baby elephant after his first ‘threat’ display. One buffalo bull eventually slowly stared halfway towards the ‘scary’ baby elephant, probably thinking ‘what on earth is this little thing on about’. The baby elephant walked around the wallow and charged one last time with another little trumpeting noise before turning around, walking away realising that his actions was having no effect. The buffalo bulls remained unfaced and totally unmoved. This wildlife interaction between the two species was definitely a highlight of our safari and not something one see very often.
