A rare albino common wolf snake was rescued from a home in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The snake was rescued from a residential building in Korba on March 7.

Visuals showed the snake hiding in a gap. Another showed the reptile trying to crawl on the wall.

It was rescued and brought to the DFO office. The small snake was placed on a chair from where it tried to slither away. A man was seen picking up the wiggling reptile and putting it back in a clear jar.

According to reports, snake rescuer Jitendra Sarathi was informed about the snake's presence by Vimal Yadav, a resident of Sanjay Nagar Basti. Sarathi reached the spot and rescued the harmless snake. This was the first time the residents had encountered the rare snake.

Albinism in common wolf snakes affects only a small percentage of the species.

Korba DFO Priyanka Pandey said that albinism occurs due to the biodiversity. She further said that similar albino snakes have been rescued earlier in Korba, which makes the area special. The DFO called for the conservation of snakes.
