A couple from the USA took pity on an injured owl and took it home to nurse it back to health.

Footage captured in Bartow in Florida in October 2021 by Joshua Brown shows the moment the pair discovered the wounded bird by the side of a road.

"It was clearly evident Ko-Ko had a head and facial injury," said Brown.

"We also noted his stomach felt small, leading to possible dehydration," he added.

"Owls hydrate through their prey's fluids; such as blood. So, we added half a cup of water to a teaspoon of sugar, boiled it up and got a blood fluid replacement," Brown concluded.

'Delightful footage has surfaced from Bartow, which shows an injured and dehydrated owl being taken care of.

The video starts off with the filmer finding the bird, now named Ko-Ko, on the side of the road. She takes a look at Ko-Ko's beak and discovers he's hurt, following which she decides to take him to her homestead.

"It was clearly evident Ko-Ko had a head and facial injury. We also noted his stomach felt small, leading to possible dehydration," the filmer said. "So, we first had to hydrate him. When asked about their experience as a homesteader, the filmer stated:
