DFDS has re-opened a freight route between Sheerness in Kent, UK and Calais, France following a labor conflict by French dock workers which shut down the original short-lived service for more than two months.

This morning (March 10), a new freight ferry Botnia Seaways arrived at the Port of Sheerness for berthing trials.

The first official sailing of the new ship is scheduled for Monday, March 14.

The ship will carry unaccompanied freight (lorry trailers) - providing an alternative option to the busy Port of Dover - with quicker access to the M25 orbital road network.
