A man in northern China was spotted sitting in an electric three-wheeler with a robot in the driver's seat.

The video was filmed in the city of Tangshan in Hebei Province on March 8 and shows an elderly drive sitting in the modified vehicle and driving along a busy road.

The elderly man, named locally as Wang, said it took him several months to make the three-wheeler. The robot was a plastic dummy that Wang bought from a second-hand market. Wang was in fact in control of the vehicle at all times.

Police said Wang's idea was an inventive one but it was actually illegal to modify the vehicle in this way.

据了解老人姓王，这辆车是他花费数月改造的，起初做的机器人行走拉车太慢，随后又进行了强化升级，改成机器人蹬三轮，纯电动车，由后面坐的人进行操作。假人和衣服是从网上订购的，上街后回头率很高。
对此，交警表示，大爷的创意和想法很不错，但随意改装车属于违法行为，出了事故也需要承担法律责任。（视频由河北台提供）
