A woman was nearly crushed to death by a dump truck slamming into her scooter from behind in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place on March 8 near the Kotwali Police Station in Tikamgarh district.

Visuals, caught on a CCTV camera, showed the woman turning left off a roundabout while the truck follows closely behind. Suddenly, the truck accelerates and hits her scooter, slamming her into the road and dragging her and her bike several metres.

The woman is inches from going under the lorry's huge wheels when finally the driver stops.

As soon as the truck stops, the woman jumps out and stands up - clearly in shock and surely injured, but not obviously in a serious way.

Meanwhile, a crowd gathered quickly and surrounded the truck. The truck driver reversed the vehicle and the damaged bike was retrieved.

According to reports, the woman has been identified as Nidhi Mishra, a school teacher. Mishra was on her way home from school at the time of the accident.

Based on complaints, Kotwali police have registered a case against the truck driver, and they have seized the truck.
