The Forest Department officials seized at least 800 caged birds from houses in southern India's Tamil Nadu on March 12. The incident took place in Tiruchirappalli.

Visuals feature hundreds of birds chirping inside several plastic baskets while the rescuers feed them using a syringe.

The officials seized over 500 parakeets with their wings clipped and 300 black-headed munias.

According to reports, a team led by the assistant conservator of forests (ACF), Trichy circle, NV Nagaiah and Forest Range Officer (FRO) V Gopinath, searched the houses and seized the birds categorized as protected species under The Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.

Moreover, while the munias will be released in the open, the parakeets will be kept in a parrot rescue center until their wings grow.
