At least two people were killed this morning (March 14) when a Russian shell hit a high-rise residential building in a northern district of Kyiv.

Artillery hit the nine-story apartment building in Obolon, destroying apartments on several floors and igniting a fire, according to reports.

An ambulance worker, who gave her name as Nastya, said one person had died, three were seriously injured and a further 10 were being treated on the scene.

Health officials said later that another person had died from their injuries.

Exclusive footage showed the building still smouldering as firefighters investigated the scene.

One person carried a dead dog away from the rubble.

"We were sleeping and then the explosion went off and that's it .. and we were left without an apartment," said Maria, who did not give her last name.

"My father was miraculously saved," she added.
