An Indian Bison was rescued by forest officials after it strayed inside a tea garden, causing panic among workers, in eastern India's West Bengal on Monday (March 14).

The incident took place at the Dima Tea Gardens of Alipurduar district.

Visuals showed the officials tying the legs of the bison in order to prevent it from running away at the time of the rescue. A piece of cloth was placed over its face to prevent it from seeing and reacting to the crowd that had gathered to witness the rescue.

The bison was stretchered off using logs and placed on the vehicle and translocated to its natural habitat.

According to reports, forest officials from Nimti Range, Pana Range, Rajabhatkhawa Range reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation. The bison was tranquilized before the rescue operation was carried out.

Meanwhile, panic ensued among workers after they sensed the bovine's presence. Some workers also climbed atop trees to save themselves from the bison.
