This is the scary moment a giant 15-foot-long python was caught after spending weeks living in a family's ceiling.

The large snake was discovered by shocked workers who were called to decorate the home in Batangas City, the Philippines, on February 28.

It tried to resist but the four workers were able to pull it down from the rafters before it could crawl further into the structure.

Footage shows the staff dragging the powerful reptile down as the frantic house owner watched from a distance.

The house owner, Gelay, said they had been hearing strange noises - believed to be the python - for several weeks.

He added: "We have seen that snake before but it escaped. When we were doing the renovation, we saw it again and called for help. It was so scary. It had been watching us from there all along."

The snake was taken by officers from the environment department and released into the wild. No one was reported hurt in the incident.
