Two powerful magnitude earthquakes struck northern Japan at around midnight on March 16.

According to reports, more than 2 million homes were without electricity due to the quakes, which were recorded at 7.3 and 6.4 on the Richter scale.

This video shows the street lights and traffic signs were cut off all of a sudden, making it dangerous to drive.
