Huge chunks of stone collapsed onto a mining operation in Gundlupete, Karnataka, trapping several workers in a cave.

Footage from March 4 shows the quarry collapsing sending a cloud of smoke into the air.

The cliff suddenly collapsed as 24 workers were working inside a cave. According to reports, three workers have been killed in the incident. Of the 24 trapped workers, 21 have been accounted for.

A white stone hill suddenly collapsed during a mining operation trapping workers and burying mining equipment. Eight workers were trapped in the debris that comprised of large boulders. Five of them were rescued by police and other rescue officials and three workers perished in the incident.
The March 4 incident occurred at White Stone Hill caves of Madahalli village in Gundlupet taluk in state of Karnataka. It was caught on mobile camera by two workers who were at the spot. The hill suddenly collapsed while 24 mining workers were working inside the cave. As a result, big boulders of white stone rolled down the hill and collided with the tipper trucks, vehicles. Four tippers, three Hitachis, three compressors, and two tractors were crushed. The cause of accident was not clear. A few nearby villagers alleged unscientific blasting of stone triggered the collapse. Mining department officials said there were three landslides at different nearby locations on the day. The department of mines and geology has formed eight teams to inspect all the mining sites and quarries.
