Historic Welsh bridge still lies in ruins over a year since it collapsed during Storm Christoph

The 200-year-old Llanerch Bridge linked the towns of Tremeirchon and Trefnant near St Asaph, North Wales until it was washed away by floodwater during Storm Christoph in January 2021.

With a replacement bridge now set to cost up to £7 million, the remains of the bridge still lie in the River Clwyd over a year later, largely untouched since its collapse.

In this aerial footage recorded this week, what's left of the bridge can be seen overhanging the river with all access blocked off by fences and barriers. The bridge abutment has also collapsed on the Tremeirchon side of the river and this large section now sits abandoned in the waters.
