Chinese motorist knocks over volunteer attempting to prevent him from leaving village amid COVID-19 resurgence
A motorist deliberately knocked over a volunteer who attempted to stop him from driving out of a village amid a COVID-19 resurgence in northern China.
CCTV footage filmed in the city of Yingkou in Liaoning Province on March 16 shows a volunteer standing in front of the car to try to stop it from leaving.
However, the motorist suddenly launched his car and knocked the volunteer over deliberately before driving away.
According to reports, the motorist named Zhang was about to drive his wife to work but was stopped by a volunteer due to the pandemic prevention rules that do not allow people to travel in and out of the village.
They then had an argument. Zhang got out of his car to push down the sign of the checking point and then deliberately knocked the volunteer over before driving away.
Police are investigating the case.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
