Waiting for the Aurora, sunset over Solway

Whilst a solar storm was raging across Cumbria, the sun was just setting and the persistent clouds kept barrelling in. In order to see the Aurora, which was visible across parts of the UK yesterday evening, you need dark and clear skies.

Here is the link to the footage of the Aurora - shot from the exact same spot earlier in 2015. A darker & altogether clearer sky.

Looking out over the Solway Firth, twoards Scotland, gives clear uninterrupted views of the Northern sky. The time lapse sequence shows the sun setting and the magnificent views over the Solway, but sadly the clouds stubbornly refused to clear, and the solar storm subsided shortly after sunset.
