Police are hunting a handsome tourist after he was allegedly seen 'stealing snacks from a 70-year-old grandfather' in Thailand.

A foreigner, described as remarkably good-looking by witnesses, and his Thai girlfriend bought snacks from an old man's food shop in Phuket province on March 4 when some of the items allegedly went missing.

The unidentified tourist - seen in photos wearing a vest with his chiselled torso exposed - transferred 155 THB to the shop's bank account as payment for their items. However, upon leaving, the old man claimed that some of his snacks on display were missing including a chicken floss bun and Chinese biscuits.

Authorities were now searching the area for the penny-pinching tourist after the old man filed a complaint.

Thai snack shop owner Nipon Chaengeam, 70, said: 'A handsome man and a woman stole from my shop. They entered and bought food but some of my snacks were missing when they left.'

Nipon provided evidence to local police including the bank statement showing the account name and number under a Thai bank which the tourist used to pay for the food.

He also checked the CCTV footage and found the foreign man and the Thai woman stole the snack from his shop. The total cost of the stolen items was 228 THB.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Sakchai Choonyong said: ‘Police have already received the complaint. We will coordinate with the investigating department and find the perpetrators to prosecute them according to the law.’

Nipon said that two weeks after the first alleged theft, his shop was targeted again by a second tourist and Thai woman on March 13. One of them was found shoving a protein cookie jar worth 135 THB and a chicken floss packet worth 149 THB in his trouser and walking out of the store without paying for the product.

Phuket police are working on finding the still-unidentified tourists with videos and images of the foreign men being circulated online to inform the public to contact the police on any clues.
