This is the scary moment a ferocious 10ft-long king cobra chased a snake wrangler.

The reptile was seen hiding inside a broken-down car engine in a family's garage in Chanthaburi province, Thailand on March 15.

Shocked house owner Tippawan Bunnak, 49, contacted the reptile specialists to have the deadly snake removed.

The team arrived and found it still curled inside the rusty engine. It only took them five minutes to catch the snake but it was aggressive and tried to attack the volunteers.

The king cobra turned its head back several times in an attempt to attack the team members but it was eventually controlled. The team measured the king cobra’s body with a rope and tape and found that it was 10ft-long and weighed 12kgs.

Snake wrangler Sergeant Nattapon Suengam said: 'If locals spot a large snake they should always contact experts and not try to hit it and catch it themselves.

'King cobras have a scent that attracts the opposite sex to mate so if a snake has been hit or injured to death, chances are more snakes will show up.'

The specialists took the snake back with them to later release it back to the wild.

Relieved house owner Tippawan said: 'This was the biggest snake that has ever came into my property. It’s normally only small snakes so I think the big one is here to bring me luck.'
