A hungry wild elephant stopped a delivery truck to steal sugarcane.

Footage shows the jumbo appearing to wait for the vehicle to pass by it on a national park road in Chachoengsao province, Thailand on March 10.

The animal then went to reach its trunk to the back of the truck where there were juicy stalks of sugarcane before helping itself with some.

After having a few mouthfuls, it then let the truck driver leave without damaging nor hurting the motorists and his truck.

Truck driver Jutamas Matkokamonkun was taking the freshly-harvested sugarcanes to a plantation when he came across the animal.

Jutamas said: 'The elephant was already waiting in the middle of the road. It looked hungry so I let it take sugarcane from the truck.'
