Cyclist with quick reactions dodges truck toppling over towards him
This is the astonishing moment a cyclist with quick reactions dodged a truck toppling over towards him.
The man was waiting on a road's median strip while selling lottery tickets when an oncoming 10-wheeler delivery truck tried to make a u-turn in Prachin Buri province, Thailand on March 16.
While making the turn, the truck loaded with scrap metal lost balance and was falling flat on its side about to crush the cyclist before he quickly dashed to safety.
Footage shows the lottery seller ditching his bicycle and running to the side when the truck crashed to the ground only inches away from him.
Speaking after, street vendor Samai Phakmee, 60, said: 'I was heading towards Kabin district to sell lottery tickets. I saw the truck rocking towards my side so I jumped and ran away.
'If I didn’t leave in time I would have been crushed into a flat figure. I think it is my faith in the Buddha and my family that saved my life.
'I might not win the lottery but that was definitely my lucky day.'
The bicycle rider had no injuries while the truck driver had a bruise on his right elbow. At the scene, the driver was seen raising his hands to apologise to the rider while offering to buy him a new bicycle.
Truck driver Nithinan Dipanthongwirot, 33, said: 'I was driving with great speed so when the truck reached the curve, it tilted and fell as seen in the CCTV.'
Police Major Dej Bhumisathan said that he was investigating the cause of the crash but the driver was not under suspicion of any offences.
He added: 'Officers arrived at the scene and found metal scattered all over the road blocking the traffic. The bicycle was smashed by the truck on the passenger side.
'The insurance company of the driver will pay for the damages.'
