A hero driver in Birmingham, UK, followed and filmed a hit-and-run suspect while calling in the alleged crime in to the police.

The Good Samaritan's dashcam filmed the shocking incident and his brave pursuit of the van involved on 22 December 2021.

The video began on Harborne Road (B4124) with a BMW smashed and disabled in the middle of the street ahead, seemingly having been hit by a large white van at the scene.

The van then flees the scene, to the evident annoyance of the BMW driver.

The hero with the dashcam briefly stops to see if the BMW driver needs help, then pursues the van driver, updating the police as he does so.

Eventually, the police advise him to stop following the van as they now have its registration number. It is not clear if they caught the suspect in the end.
