An animal lover in Myanmar has transformed his home into a miniature zoo with dozens of exotic reptiles.

Aung Khant Zaw, 30, opened his unique pet shop doubling as a zoo in Yangon City after amassing the unusual creatures as a hobby. His first exotic pets were a pair of geckos that he bought in 2015.

Today, he has added more than 50 different types of reptiles - including iguanas, turtles, chameleons, skinks, and bearded dragons - to his growing collection.

Aung said overseas breeders who he makes friends with online send him the animals as gifts. Some of his pets are locally collected or rescued from hunters.

He keeps his scaly friends inside cages and feeds them fresh fruit, greens, and even dead mice. Aside from giving them the appropriate food, Aung also has to study their original habitats to mimic the same conditions in his home.

Aung shares his knowledge of the rare animals with locals who come to visit his zoo.

He said: 'I've been collecting reptiles since 2015 and I'll keep going until there's no more space for me here. People like to visit and see the pets and buy them. There's no place else that's easy for them to see these kinds of animals.'

The Yangon City Development Committee on their website said owners can apply for a license to sell 'pet fishes and animals'.
