This is the moment water spilled from fish tanks as a magnitude 6.7 quake struck off the coast of Taiwan early Wednesday.

CCTV footage shows water from two fish tanks violently sloshing around before spilling onto the floor while the earthquake rocked Tainan City on March 23. A pet cat and dog were roused from sleep by the strong shaking.

The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake hit 62 kilometres south of Hualien City at a depth of 24 kilometres. It struck at 17:41 UTC, and came just two minutes after a magnitude 5.4 quake, Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau said.

One man in Taitung County was injured by shattered glass and hospitalised, according to Taiwan's National Fire Agency. It added that a bridge in Hualien had reportedly collapsed, but no injuries were reported.
