For once it wasn't the lions, tigers or bears that caught the attention of visitors to Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville, Texas but a family of ducks struggling to negotiate a steep entry into the water.

Zoo-goers let out cries of anguish as they watched the helpless ducklings attempting to follow their mother down the concrete bank and then tumbling one after another into the water below.

Fortunately, none of the birds was hurt in the dramatic ordeal and all swam off with their mother unaware that they had briefly stolen the limelight from the zoo's more exotic species.

"These ducklings put on a show for us," said the filmer, Katie Pedraza who captured the moment back in 2018.

'Leave it to the ducklings to brighten up your day with their silly antics.

Surfacing from Brownsville, this amusing footage shows a momma duck teaching her kids how to swim.

First off, the younglings atop the cliff must gracefully roll down the slope and make their way into the water. However, this proves to be a challenging task for them.

After a botch, a bit of hesitation, and watching their mom walk down the cliff, the ducklings decide to follow suit. And even though their descent isn't as smooth as momma duck's, it's good enough to get them ready for the next stage i.e. swimming.

"This was taken at the Gladys Porter Zoo where these ducklings put on a show for us!" the filmer, Katie Pedraza said.
