An elderly man miraculously cheated death after he slipped while trying to board a moving train in central India's Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place at the Gwalior Railway Station in the eponymous city on March 24.

Visuals, caught on a CCTV camera, showed the man trying to board the train, when he lost his balance and fell in the gap between the train and the platform. Seeing him, a cop ran and entered a compartment of a train, while a female cop ran towards the victim.

According to reports, the male cop, identified as Ankur, pulled the chain to stop the train. Together with fellow police Sonika and Rajveer, he rescued the passenger.

The 70-year-old, identified as Nevraj Batra, lost a finger on his left hand during the accident. He was travelling with five other family members from Delhi's Safdarjung railway station to central India's Raipur, when he got down at the Gwalior station to fetch water. Nevraj was late in getting back as the train had started to leave the platform. Worried that he will miss the train, he tried to board the moving locomotive, resulting in the accident.

A resident of Rajasthan, Nevraj boarded the same train- 12550 Jammu Tawi-Durg Weekly SF Express, after he gave his consent to travel, following the accident.

He was given treatment at the Virangana Lakshmibai Junction station by a railway doctor.
