Snake wranglers catch massive king cobras terrorising residents in eastern Thailand
Snake wranglers caught nine massive king cobras terrorising residents in a single night in eastern Thailand.
The emergency services were called after two of the snakes slithered through a home and were seen mating under a pile of wood in the Tha Mai district of Chanthaburi on March 20.
The male cobra was 13ft-long, while the female cobra was about 11ft-long. The team successfully caught the pair without any issue before releasing them into nearby woodland.
Another king cobra was captured in the same district after it was found curling up near a house's rafters. The snake wranglers used a hook to pull the reptile down before grabbing its head with their bare hands. The female cobra was found to be 10ft-long and was of breeding age. It was placed inside a cloth bag to later be released along with the other king cobras.
Sergeant Nattaphon Sue-ngam from the Mueang Chan Snake Protection Volunteer Team said the team caught a further six snakes that evening in nearby homes.
He said: 'The officers took the snakes back to recuperate before releasing them into the forest far away from the community.'
