Drivers inch their way through this extremely tight street in Thailand
Careful drivers have to inch their way through this extremely tight street in Thailand.
Aerial footage shows a sedan slowly negotiating the narrow alleyway in Rayong province on Sunday afternoon March 27.
The car had scratches and dents acquired over the years of passing through the 6.5ft-wide road - which leaves just a tiny gap on either side of a vehicle's mirrors.
Motorist Saranya Suaydee, who lives in houses at one end of the alley, said she has been driving through the gap for more than 30 years as it is the only entrance to their home.
Saranya said: ‘I’ve been doing this for as long as I remember and never had a scratch. I’ve been doing it for 30 years so I’m used to it now and just take extra care.'
Another resident Khun Wankaew, who has had several scrapes damaging her car's bodywork, added: ‘There has never been a car crash in this alley. Motorcycle riders have to wait and let the car move out before driving in.
‘The wall owner offered to break the structure down to make it easier for the community and allow all of us to rebuild it but it never happened. People in the area are used to driving through it, sometimes I even see an SUV.’
The Soi Phattanayon alley is the entrance to several houses in the area with cars of different sizes that have been going in and out for decades.
