The normally bustling Kyiv train station was quiet on Monday 28 March, as the war in Ukraine and the threat to the city continued.

The major transportation hub often serves 170,000 passengers a day but is now barely used, with only a few trains still carrying passengers each day now.

Many people in the city have now fled, are involved fighting or are supporting those who do by running things like small grocery stores, while others have simply decided they will not be forced from their homes and are hunkering down for the long haul.
