Tourists visited a beach in southern China was illuminated by waves of bioluminescent algae.

Impressive video filmed in Pingtan County in Fujian Province on March 25 shows tourists playing in the sea water that had a blue glow.

The "blue tears" phenomenon is caused by a type of algae known as noctiluca scintillans that give off a bioluminescent glow.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
