A stray cat was rescued after it was found stuck inside the wheel of a car.

The moggie was heard crying by attendants when a vehicle stopped by to refuel at a petrol station in Rizal province, the Philippines on March 15.

Staff and onlookers helped the driver remove the cat from inside the wheel. A long queue of motorists was held behind as the vehicle could not move forward with the cat inside.

After almost an hour, the cat was successfully pulled out but it was too weak and appeared to have fallen unconscious from suffocation so they rushed the animal to the vet.

Onlooker Ivan Eguia said: 'The cat was taken out but it looked weak. I hope it survived.

'This should serve as a simple reminder to always check underneath your car or knock on your hood and blow your horn twice before you start your engine.'
