Apartment Fire in Two Units Displaces Three, Leaves Dog in Critical Condition

EAST HEMET, CA - Cal Fire responded to reports of a multi family residential structure fire at the Echo Vista Apartments, 40260 Mayberry Ave, East Hemet, CA. Arriving crews located a unit on the second floor with a working interior fire. Firefighters initiated fire attack and achieved knockdown in approximately 10-15 minutes. During a search, a dog was located unresponsive. Firefighters attempted resuscitation and called animal control to the scene for the dog. A unit on the first floor immediately below the apartment on the second floor was damaged by water and fire. A total of three residents were displaced, two from the apartment on the second floor and one from the first floor unit. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. Riverside County Sheriff Deputies were called to the scene to investigate.
