As the temperature increased into the low 70s on Thursday March 31, 2022 a strong cold front swept east into the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States. Combined with gusty winds prompting a wind advisory, a powerful line of severe thunderstorms developed and moved east across the region, causing strong winds, torrential rain, and dangerous lighting in Frederick, Maryland. Nearby areas also received penny sized hail, and a tornado warning was issued for northern Carroll County in Maryland.
