A kitten was rescued after it was found stuck inside a moving car's engine.

The moggie was heard crying from inside the bonnet of a moving sedan in Nong Khai province, Thailand on March 20.

Confused car owner Alisa Ploydee thought she was only imagining it but still asked her boyfriend to pull over and check where the sound could be coming from.

The couple climbed down from their car and checked the car engine where they spotted the kitten struggling to breathe from the hot mechanism while trying to find a way out.

Alisa said: 'I was relieved that I followed my instincts and climbed down to check the car engine, otherwise the cat might have been hurt.

'We didn't know where the cat came from. We were on a road trip. Maybe it entered when we were parked somewhere.'

The kitten was pulled out of the car and tried running away as it was too scared to be held. A local helped them tame the cat and gave it food. The kind villager then took the cat home with her.
