Residents perform CPR on hiker that suffered cardiac arrest in China
Residents performed CPR to rescue a hiker that suffered cardiac arrest in southern China.
Video filmed in the city of Shenzhen in Guangdong Province on February 27 shows two men taking turns to perform CPR on the hiker laying on the ground on a more than 400-metre-high mountain road.
An automated external defibrillator (AED) brought to the site by a security guard was also used to save the hiker.
According to the AED, a man named Deng used the defibrillator once on the hiker and another man named Wang performed CPR for 20 minutes.
The hiker's spontaneous breathing returned when the paramedics arrived on site. The nearby residents then carried the hiker into the ambulance and he was sent to hospital for further treatment.
The hiker recovered well and has been discharged from hospital.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
