Male elephant chases female jumbo in Sri Lanka

Visuals have emerged of a male tusker interacting with several females from a herd in Sri Lanka.

The incident took place on March 31 in Galenbindunuwewa area of Anuradhapura District of North Central Province.

Visuals showed the male elephant extending its truck and embracing a female as it interacts with the herd. However, it goes back inside the forest. It comes back again, but is met with resistance from two elephants. After engaging in a standoff with one elephant, the tusker decides to chase. The other elephant is seen running away.

There were several elephants, at least a dozen, in the herd.
