Pupils in tears as COVID-19 outbreak in China suspends their holidays
Pupils cried as the three-day Tomb-Sweeping holidays were suspended amid a COVID-19 oubtreak in central China.
Video filmed in the city of Huangshi in Hubei Province on April 2 shows students in the third grade of a primary school crying in the classroom.
A teacher named Ding was heard saying: "Do not cry. The holidays are just deferred. I will have to work tomorrow as well."
Ding said students all know they would have three days of holiday for Tomb-Sweeping Day, but the school suddenly announced that the holiday was suspended due to COVID-19, as they tried to minimise people's travel.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
