If you needed any more proof that life underwater is beyond captivating, this clip is the one for you.

This engaging footage captures Aaron Bull's encounter with a gentle but shy whale shark, during his trip to the Maldives.

"The crew had placed very powerful lights at the rear of the boat facing into the water," Aaron said. "The plan was to attract plankton, which in turn would attract large animals to come and feed."

The filmer further stated that at first, nothing of interest appeared. But then, after several hours of waiting, a "huge whale shark" surprised the visitors at around 20 past midnight.

"We donned snorkel gear and jumped in the water to spend some time swimming with this 6-7m female shark but she was very shy," Aaron added.
