Dramatic moment NYPD officers tackle an alleged gunman loose in New York City
This is the dramatic moment brave police officers tackled an alleged gunman loose on a New York City street.
The suspect was seen loitering outside a store in the Bronx on Monday (04/04) when he was stopped and searched by the police officers.
Dashcam footage shows two men being detained, one of whom makes a break for it and manages to slip through the officer's grasp.
The other suspect is not so lucky, and soon finds himself pinned to the ground by police until another patrol car arrives on scene.
The officers were then able to the man into some rubbish bins to prevent him from escaping.
The NYPD said: "On Monday, April 4, 2022 at approximately 0350 hours, a 49-year-old male was inside of a grocery store when he was approached by two males.
"One of which exposed a firearm he was holding within the waistline of his pants. The male then stepped away and called the police.
"When police responded, the suspect was pointed out to the officers and Joel Rendon, 18, was arrested.
"He's since been charged of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Resisting Arrest and Menacing.
"The suspect initially attempted to run away from the officers but was apprehended. A black .38 calibre revolver was recovered from the arrested suspect.
