Increasing demand for alternative freight ferry to Calais from Sheerness, Kent, UK
Peel Ports have reported record volumes of freight using the recently re-opened DFDS freight ferry from Sheerness, Kent, UK to Calais, France using ship Botnia Seaways.
On Twitter, the company announced this afternoon: "Since the service re-started, volumes have gone strength to strength with hauliers switching to the service to avoid the congestion issues seen in Dover."
Footage shows the ferry being loaded with freight this afternoon (April 8).
