The presence of an elephant herd, that strayed into a village, triggered panic among locals in eastern India's West Bengal.

The incident took place on April 8 in Madarihat, located in Alipurduar district of the state.

Visuals showed locals driving away the herd, who had entered the village from the nearby Jaldapara National Park.

Firecrackers were also used in order to scare the pachyderms, forcing them to return back.

According to reports, though no one was injured, the elephants destroyed crops.
