Floodwaters gush under bridge during Tropical Storm Megi in the Philippines
Floodwaters gushed under a bridge as Tropical Storm Megi caused heavy rainfall in the central Philippines.
Video taken in Burauen municipality in Leyte province on April 11 shows the flood rising dangerously close to bridge level.
Onlooker John Michael Tila-on said: "We saw cracks along the Marabong Bridge in Burauen. Everybody should stay alert and vigilant."
Tropical Storm Megi, locally known as Agaton, made landfall in Guiuan municipality, Eastern Samar at 7:30 am on Sunday with maximum sustained winds of up to 75 kilometres per hour.
State weather bureau Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said Megi has weakened but still poses a threat, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometres per hour. It is set to make a second landfall as it tracks west-northwest towards Eastern Leyte.
As of Sunday afternoon, some 1,419 passengers returning to their provinces for the country's Holy Week were stranded in ports due to the inclement weather, the Philippine Coast Guard said.
