A brave official was lowered down into a well full of venomous vipers in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

Two male Russell's vipers were competing for a female at a farm and all the three accidentally fell into the irrigation well.

A member of the Animal Rescue Society led by Akash Jadhav was lowered down into the watery pit to rescue the snakes.

He used a long pole to drag the vipers towards him and managed to capture them one by one.

Akash Jadhav said: “Russell’s vipers are very aggressive. Capturing them on the surface is difficult. Doing so inside a well while dangling mid-air is extremely dangerous. But these snakes would have died if we had not saved them.”

The vipers were later released into a nearby forest.

A rescuer with nerves of steel went down a 85-feet deep irrigation well near Ahmednagar in western India to save three Russel’s vipers.

Two male vipers were competing for a female at a farm and all the three accidentally fell into the irrigation well. The farmer, who owned the well, called Animal Rescue Society and a team led by Akash Jadhav rushed to the spot.

A team member went down with the help of a harness and battled bravely to save the three vipers. Using a long pole he dragged the vipers towards him one by one and captured them with a snake stick. The snakes were released later at a nearby forest.

Akash Kadhav said: “Russel’s vipers are very aggressive. Capturing them on the surface is difficult. Doing so inside a well while dangling mid air is extremely dangerous. But these snakes would have died if we had not saved them.”
