Hundreds of Ukrainians killed by Russian shells lie in a new war grave in the city of Chernihiv, 90 miles north of Kyiv.

Buried in haste in large trenches, none of the dead here have gravestones and are identified with small wooden signs.

Some graves are unmarked.

Officials in the city buried hundreds of civilians in makeshift coffins as families held mass funerals, fearing deadly consequences if they lingered too long in cemeteries.

Ukrainian sources say 700 civilians have died in Russian shelling in Chernihiv.

To bury those killed by shelling of the Russian Federation, a new cemetery had to be allotted in Chernihiv

A new cemetery has been formed in Chernihiv, where victims of Russian shelling are buried. There are no ordinary graves on it, because people were simply buried in trenches. Some of the graves do not even have nameplates.
In total, according to preliminary data, in Chernihiv alone, about 700 civilians died from shelling by the Russian Federation.
