Ukraine's eastern Donbas has been an intense focus for Russian troops since the invasion was launched on February 24 and in particular the city of Mariupol, where these children are being taken care of by members of the Azov Regiment.

"Here I am with three children. Here the conditions are not strong (good) for children. No education, no development. The food is small. And in children, their teeth have already begun to deteriorate, and there is not enough vitamin D, there is not enough sun," a Ukrainian mother said on camera in this pool footage provided on April 18.

The Azov Regiment has come under intense international scrutiny for its adoption of Nazi symbology and ideology.

The displaced children in Mariupol are among the millions of Ukrainians who've had their life disrupted by the invasion.

"We lost our home, we lost our livelihood. We want to live normally, calmly, we want to get out of here. A lot of kids. They are half hungry. We've been stripped of everything. But at least give us life, let us live a little more. Let there we are already aged, but our children ... I want them to grow up, to stay alive," another Ukrainian woman pleads to the camera.

The message and theme is the same with all the interviewed refugees: get us out of here safely and soon.

"I want everyone who sees this video to help us make a green corridor so that we can get out of here safely - all living people, and civilians, and the military - everyone. And everyone who is involved in this war, who went to war with us, I wish them all this pain so that they feel it for themselves. So that their children can feel it," said a young girl.
