This is the moment two little girls narrowly escaped from their collapsing bedroom ceiling as a freak storm tore down the roof of their home in Thailand.

The sisters, Fin, 8, and Prime, 9, were standing on their bed and playing on their phones together at home in Chachoengsao province when strong winds outside rattled them on April 13.

Curious about the noise, they opened the window and saw the gales whipping through the neighbourhood. With seconds to spare, the kids jumped out of the bed just before a violent gust blew the ceiling panels down into the room.

Another clip from outside the home shows the gales carrying away rubbish bins and causing heavy tree branches to crash into a home's garage.

The girl's relieved mother Ngamta Yothanan said: 'Both of the children could have been badly hurt if the ceiling fell on them. They're both smart. They could hearth danger coming towards them and ran away. It was so close to them being hurt, I became emotional when I watched the surveillance video.'

Police Colonel Sumit Promthong said: 'More than 40 houses in the province's Sanam Chai Khet were damaged by the storm. Sanam Chai Khet police have distributed relief goods to affected residents.'

Sanam Chai Khet mayor Khian Saeng said authorities are now expediting the repairs of a knocked-down power line to restore electricity in the area.
