A 13ft-long king cobra was caught invading a family’s home in Thailand.

The reptile was spotted by a shocked house owner while it was slithering across the smooth-tiled floor of his living room in Sa Kaeo province on April 2.

It was still inside the house when rescuers came. One volunteer used a long rod with hook to pin it down while another colleague secured it by the tail so it could not escape.

No one was reported hurt nor bit by the large snake and it was released later into the wild.

Relieved house owner Siriwat Khonsuk, 21, said: ‘The snake was the biggest I have ever seen. I immediately knew it was a venomous cobra so I fled the house and called for help. I was alone at that time.’

The rescue team placed the snake inside a sack and released the animal into a forest.
