A swarm of wild bees built two huge hives under a family's balcony in Thailand.

Homeowner Nawawit Bensalaman, also known as Bangson, said the bees began constructing their homes in November last year. Footage from April 4 shows how the hives have swelled in size.

What started as a fist-sized clump under the beams of the second storey eventually became the giant hive where the insects thrived. The bugs even expanded their territory and built a smaller nest just two metres away from the first one.

Bangson said the bees produced quality honey and he had no plans to remove them.

He said: 'The bees built two nests probably because the back of the house is a forest garden where it's easy to find pollen. No one bothers the hives because it's behind the house.

'They don't disturb or hurt us. Sometimes they just cling to the glass doors and windows, but we will let them live here freely until they decide to move their nest elsewhere.'

The swarm living in the local’s house are Asian honey bees. Southeast Asia has eight native honey bees, four of which are in Thailand and could be found in big cities like Bangkok.
