A motorcycle rider distracted by his phone smashed into the back of a car.

The delivery worker in an orange jacket was weaving between vehicles while holding the handset in his right hand in Bangkok, Thailand on April 17.

However, he failed to notice that the SUV in front of him had slowed down - and smashed into the back of it.

Stunned driver Aunchalee Jansuvan said she was jolted forward when she felt a strong force hitting the back of her vehicle.

She climbed out from her car and found the young man lying on the road next to broken two-wheeler.

The delivery rider, Nontakon Aonkul, 18 said he had been distracted receiving orders on his phone, causing him to drive straight into Aunchalee's car.

The rider had no serious injuries other than a cracked chin and a fractured wrist. He apologised to the car owner and has already returned his family home in the northeast provinces to recover.

Aunchalee said: 'I felt bad for the rider because he is young and was working hard to make a living. He left his hometown to work, then this happened.'

'This should be a lesson to riders to be careful. As for the damage, my insurance is taking care of it.'

Forgiving driver Aunchalee said she did not report the smash to police or demand payment from the teenage worker.

She added: 'He was so upset that he had crashed, I felt bad for him. He was busy checking his orders because he wanted to get to people on time. They have a lot of pressure.'
